Dublin Street – Chariot of Life

I’ve prattled on so much since the beginning of the year that you all must be wishing for something short and sweet for a change. So, today your wish is my command. Less than 150 words OK?

I’ve passed this statue on the odd occasion… usually on the train, so getting a half decent photo has always been difficult. On the odd occasion I’ve walked by it’s been on a Saturday afternoon… fountain off… bland looking.

Earlier this week I eventually managed a few photos, sans tripod… so, fortunately one of the pics is good enough to use. The statue is called Chariot of Life, by Oisin Kelly. It is placed in front of the Irish Life Building so I presume the symbolism has something to do with our ride through this thing we call life. Rough, smooth… we all do it, whatever the occasion… or whatever the consequence… enjoy!

Chariot of Life by Oisín Kelly , Dublin, IrelandPlease click here to read a little more about the sculptor… he has done a few more famous Dublin landmarks… hopefully in time I’ll get to show you those as well… for now, after the first full week at work… do enjoy your weekend and don’t do what I wouldn’t!

Here’s a link to a new blogger’s site… (pity he’s not using WP…) he shows a few more of Kelly’s Dublin works…

Nice catch, the colours in the fountain make it look as if the chariot is driving through long grass. :-)

  2. Where do you even find the time to write long posts. I don’t even have time to read them. LOL! Don’t you just love finding a new statue or monument and then trying to find out the story behind it?

I wonder sometimes… the writing has taken on a whole life of it’s own… bust still, hopefully I’m not boring you folk too much. Yep, that’s what I enjoy about walking the streets…always learning…

I value your 'likes' and comments, even though I don't always reciprocate, I care. Thanks for making the effort! God Bless!!
