I survived another day… but don’t fear… I’m not going to bore the living daylight out of you with my commuter tales… just the odd observation to tide me over the journey home. I’ve mentioned somewhere in the distant past that I really enjoy the people watching aspect of travelling. Now… this becomes an art form on the train. Actually… watching people watching the others… I love seeing their reactions when they suddenly realise they’re being observed!
Their eyes dart away… often the first signs of a guilty blush may be seen creeping across the cheeks. Others shoot longing looks at the ceiling… as if their guilt will be absolved if they make like they’re practicing their Sistine Chappell neck cranking.
Then… we have the windows as opt out clauses… the gaze is rapidly diverted away from the pretty faces… the targets blissfully unaware that they’ve been scrutinised in detail… or are they? Are they not also playing the game? Each responding in some way to the body language and psychology of the stalk… or the flirt… fun…
I digress… these commuting amusements are all part of the greater scheme… part of what makes the daily drudge interesting. I’ve often wondered how many people have met on the train/bus/boat/coach/plane/ferry and married… or, in our modern times, met and shacked up?
How many ‘cold calls’ have turned into warm friendships? How many deals have been done? How many lessons learned… thesis’ typed… text messages sent… how many break-ups? Am I pushing the point too far now?
Let’s put it this way… I’ve often toyed with the idea of compiling some form of ‘train tales and other stories’ journal. How about getting a few of your thoughts… or, even better… how about you submitting the odd tale? You’ll find my e-mail address on the ’About Me’ page… we could have fun… different slants on things for a change. The odd travel story or two from somewhere else on the planet… fun!
How about it… why not give it a go…
Train Tales and Other Stories…

Hello AJ. How interesting to find someone else in this world looking for train tales. May I suggest you visit http://train-traveller.blogspot.com/
It may not be what you were expecting, or even what you were looking for, but these train tales are new to the web, located in ‘anonymous’ place in Australia. Enjoy 🙂
I look forward to your next instalment.

I’m definitely going to have a look-see at that blog… I’ve been toying with the idea for a ‘train tales’ compilation for about 2 years now… only the latest commuting stint has got me thinking again… back then I wasn’t a blogger so didn’t know how to go about getting something going… now I’ll have a look at the options! Thanks for stopping by…

PS – Not every commuter tale will bore the living daylights out of you…. I hope!

No… not me… I mean boring the living daylight out of some of my regulars!! I seem to get stuck on a subject for days… look at my Royal Canal posts… I sometimes think people tire of one subject so we bloggers need to change content quite often… just my take on things! I’m looking forward to your tales… 😉

I’ve rarely ridden trains, when in youth found them way too slow. Also my “control” thing about being behind the wheel, physically and mentally. Yet I hope you’ll share more Train Tales. Riding repeatedly with others riding repeatedly would be an interesting show. Are candid photos included? 😉

Yep… I’m sure we can allow candid photo’s… the aim of the blog is to entertain and enlighten!! Haha… ha! I think we may just have to guard against being too raunchy… and I won’t post any profane/blasphemous material… apart from that… I think we can occasionally shock the sensibilities of the sensible!! 😀 😛 😀

What a lovely picture.
Urm, some of my train tales are x-rated. Some things best left unsaid! lol
Actually, I have some very fond memories of trains and commuting. Perhaps I should send you an email?
Have a great day.
