I Sat Around at Work Today

I sat around a desk today
Wondering, should I scream or pray?
I’m filled with utter dismay
Are we meeting, what’s the long delay?

Staring out through dirty window pane
At the softly falling chilly November rain
The talk of time keeping programs all in vain
I wished for space down south in sunny Spain

Looking yonder at the distant grey shore
From the lofty vantage of the ninth floor
All this endless waiting, it’s such a bore
Then, from the pad, this sorry ditty I tore

I often wonder at the sanity of it all…
When out of the room we slowly crawl
Who’s to blame, who’s dropped the ball?
Who to the rescue, should we call?

Is it only me who’s constantly bleating?
Sitting around on the uncomfortable seating
Writing a ditty while waiting, is that cheating?
As we wait for the opening of the meeting…

Irritated we sat around a desk today
Wondering, should we run or stay?
Meeting’s minutes in complete disarray
Are we meeting, what’s the long delay?

Top… daylight view of 2 of the buildings where I shelter in the day, taken from the 2nd Lock on the Circular Line, Grand Canal, Dublin

Lower view, early winter’s evening view from the Waterways Ireland Center, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, Ireland…

Both pictures are pretty. You must share the view from your seat in work with us one day. 🙂

I sit on the second floor so don’t have much of a view… I have seen the lifting bridge in action and also got few shots of a rainbow… I often tease that I’m going to move my desk up to the 14th floor… that’s where all ‘my’ technical equipment is located… no windows though, I have to go up to the roof to see anything… some of those views you have shared in the Dublin 360 posts…

Wow, are you reading my mind? I have been thinking about how I can actually retire before I hit the magic number of 58. That is 6 years away and I’m not sure I can make it that long. We have a retirement/holiday home in Sicily and that place calls to me every day.

I wish I was soo lucky! For me it will likely be work until 70… I do dream of warmer climates… the Med would fit in just well with those dreams but alas… oh for that book deal! 😉 PS – I’ve only just over 4 years to go before the magic figure of 58…

  4. I wish I had a spot like that right outside my building.

Both photos were taken withing 5 minutes walk from the tall building. It is the tallest office building in Ireland so that has advantages too… as you have seen!

This type of working would cause me dismay
I’d have to do it a different way.

I value your 'likes' and comments, even though I don't always reciprocate, I care. Thanks for making the effort! God Bless!!
