To take up the story from yesterday… the place where we’re living now has a pond. In the last while the signs of spring have been rather evident in and around the water. There have been romantic scenes as well. What do you expect? Find a girl, find a place, your very own place and then get on with the domestics.
So, I’m going to pose the question… have a quick look at the first photo again. OK… what would you say happened next? Or… for that matter, what was happening at the time the shutter opened? Was it our dog diving into the pond? No, we don’t have a dog… so, could it per chance be our cat? No… our cat is too lazy to even go outside most of the time… so, he wouldn’t ever contemplate a swim… even if you lined a whole succession of tasty morels up on the water.
So… what was going on? Was it a flying fox that dived in or an otter? No… that would be ludicrous… would it not? OK… I’ll give you a clue… these two have been spotted around lately… our own ducks.
The next thing we knew there was a commotion and a splashing and sploshing as you saw in the top photo. Let’s hope our happy couple will have many offspring… let’s hope we’ll soon have a pond full of ducklings! There you have it… what happened next? The multiplication of the species… that’s what happened!
Do accept my apologies for the quality… max zoom through a window as well as camera movement… not too good a combination in low light. My next learning curve? Wildlife action photography in Irish weather conditions… fun!
