Perspective – WPhotoC

This week Ash challenges us to get creative with perspective. What’s the old story about a photo never lying? Well, with all the software around these days it’s easy to manipulate any photo into doing just that… lie.

Looking through... Sandycove, Dublin Ireland

However, as Ash has done, all one really needs to do is either change the focus or crop the photo. I bet you’ll have difficulty working this first photo out. Yes, it’s a shot of the James Joyce Tower and other buildings at Sandycove, Dublin… but what’s the frame? I’m hoping you won’t scroll down too quickly…

Take your time, have another look at the photo…

And another…

Why not one last look before you peep at the next photo?

A different perspective...

Does it become slightly clearer now?  We see two openings… one seemingly larger that the other. A different perspective again. It’s a pity I didn’t think to get a bit of the same landscape framed in this shot as well. So, are you any the wiser yet? Look again…

Maybe another look…

Any wiser?

OK… I’ll show you the whole truth and nothing but the truth…

The piece by Rachel Joynt is named Mothership. I’m not quite with it… would that imply motherhood or the mothership of the fleet? Maybe the ambiguity is intentional… maybe it’s all rolled into one… so to speak? Maybe we’re only beginning to see the hole of the whole…
