Nothing Fixes a Bad Manager
Now there’s a captivating thought. I borrowed it from one of those juicy bits of reading on LinkedIn. Do please click here to read the rather entertaining stats.
As a taster I’ll leave you with an extract from the piece.
There’s a reason for this — authentic management talent is very rare. Gallup research shows that just one in 10 have the natural, God-given talent to manage
I’ll bang on again about managers and leaders. However, I’ll first throw in statistics, just for fun. If we look at the standard rule of thumb used so often to define why or how only such a low percentage really rise to the top them we need to have a look at the well used Bell Curve performance illustrator. The good old Bell Curve… used so widely by industry and commerce to illustrate to the mere morals how and why they can never rise to greatness.
So, let’s turn the Bell Curve into a tool for our own use. Maybe we should suggest the following to the rotten managers at the receipt of their bad requests.
“Please consult the Bell Curve to calculate the likelihood of your management style meeting the minimum requirements for enabling the execution of your demands to the excessively high expectations placed upon mere mortals who seemingly don’t fall within the boundaries of the unattainable excellence you so desire.”
Ego mihi arbitror…
Thanks to Wiki-P for assisting with the illustration… let’s hope a few good folk get to read this post and maybe, just maybe, rethink their management styles? Leopards and all that stuff? Me thinks the Bell Curve suggests we’ll never be rid of bad managers…
Surely I can’t leave you without a photo of sorts? No… I’ve gone back to Mother Nature for inspiration… she kindly loaned me a very fleeting glimpse of a natural curve…
Do enjoy your Friday… I hope your boss doesn’t wind you up before the weekend. If he does, why don’t you send on the link to this post?

The bell curve doesn’t apply if you work for the central bank. Then you just give yourself full marks in every review and an extra day off!
