The Dandy Lion?

I was visiting Sheila’s blog and really enjoyed her Dandy post. The good lady shares a few facts about the much maligned dandelion plant. I must say, I vaguely knew some folk use parts of the plant in salads and even the root as a coffee substitute. Sheila quotes a few facts from the ever reliable Wiki-P so I’ll do the same…

The English name, dandelion, is a corruption of the French dent de lion meaning “lion’s tooth”, referring to the coarsely toothed leaves.

OK… enough of the quoting. I’m wondering, would you be prepared to give a cup of dandelion coffee a go? I reckon I’ll be out the weekend ‘harvesting’ a few roots for a trial… you never know, I could become fond of the taste!

The instantly recognisable flower of the dandelion... sometimes adorned with butterflies!

You’re not going to believe this… seems we’re currently freshly out of flowering dandelions so I’ve had to use an old photo…
