I’m always on the lookout for images I can use when I do LinkedIn posts. Today’s sign caught my attention and inspired a post. Yep… beware of the bull. Beware of the bull you get fed when you’re job hunting. Mostly though, beware of the bull going around in your own mind! The bull you manufacture in your head!
So… here’s the link to yesterday’s LI post. I’ll leave you with the first few lines… just as an appetiser. Beware!!
Life in the unemployment lane can be highly frustrating and even demoralising. After all, you may wonder why your contract ended so suddenly. Why were you not good enough, why did the powers that be discard you when you still had much to offer? There could be a few very simple explanations, especially in a contract environment:
– Cost – the client calls the shots. If the PO is cut in half then getting rid of the costliest contractors is an easy solution.
– Hidden agendas – honesty has a way of hurting some individuals along the way. Sometimes management don’t want to answer the difficult questions because they know it may rock the boat. So, pleasing the client comes before pleasing their contracted staff. What’s a bit of collateral damage between friends?
On occasion, one must just accept that your usefulness has come to an end, for whatever reason. It’s not easy, I know! Then begins the difficult task of finding new meaningful employment. In this day and age it should be easy but it is not.
