Landscape… Irish Bliss!

It’s a well-known fact that most of Europe’s landscapes have been altered by man over centuries of constant change. Ireland, they say… was mostly woodland but man’s need for housing, heat and cooking fuel, as well as for grazing for livestock and places for planting, resulted in much clearing.

Today, the island is known worldwide for its many shades of green. Hedgerows and pastures… barley fields in spring and summer. Very important… how else would we get the Guinness if the barley won’t grow. It’s also a very pleasant and pretty land when the sun shines… ah well, that’s not too often but maybe it’s even pretty when it’s raining… I mean… without the rain the landscape wouldn’t be half as green… and pretty!
