Today, day three, we change tack… onto sport. Yesterday was the T20 World Cup. What an occasion. What a tournament. I’m not the world’s greatest T20 enthusiast but I must say, the skills levels of so many teams have improved massively. Long gone are the days when this version of the game was not mush more than a hit and giggle. Well, mind you… the teams that still treat it as such didn’t get too far in the competition… most notably the lads from Down Under.
OK… the Saffers didn’t get far either but I will put forward this postulation… they were a tad unlucky on two occasions. Twice they had to bowl at night when the dew made bowling less easy. Oh well… we Saffers will just have to wait another few years for a WC win!
Onto a slightly more sedate note… the season here in Ireland is only weeks away from getting under way again… then I can again spend happy afternoons around the grounds where Senior Son and team play… always trying to perfect my action shots. My favourite? Capturing the moment when the ball hits the stumps and the batsman hears that dreaded sound behind him!
Just in case you are wondering… the West Indies had a stunning day at the finals! Both their ladies and men’s teams are the 2016 champions!! Well played, well deserved!! Your sportsmanship and all round performances make me proud to be associated with the great game of cricket!
Love the photo. Didn’t watch the T20 but enjoyed my first cricket match at a Big Bash game here is Aus. Looking forward to future posts.

Interesting read for someone who lives in California and knows next to nothing about the game. Enjoyed learning. Thank you.

Cricket in California!! Now there’s a winner!! You need lots of bright, sunny sunshine so I think we must get a drive going to get the game growing there!! 😉

Eish! Great pic.

Ek sidder!! 😉

The last four balls changed the game completely, and what a game it was! Thrilling and exciting! Though I was sad India was out in the semi finals, but the way West Indies played the finals, it was just mind blowing. They showed great team spirit and they deserve all the respect!
A great topic for ‘C’ 🙂
Cheers

Yep… like you, my team wasn’t there!! Maybe some year in the future we’ll have an India v SA final! That would be fun.
I really enjoyed the final and have always enjoyed WI cricket so it was great seeing them pulling it off… even though my heart could have had an easier time! 😉

I knew the Windies were gonna do it!! I just didn’t think they’d leave it so late! I mean 19 in the last over… even AB would have broken a sweat at that thought! 😉

I can’t pretend to follow cricket, but I was aware of my husband mumbling about it yesterday. (No cricket down here in West Cork that I know of.)

I believe that cricket is thriving and growing down in Cork… well, maybe not in your village but then, why do you need cricket if you live there? No… I need cricket, where ever I live! 😀

Maybe this is the spark they need to get their test cricket back up there.

Yes, I get my hopes up every world cup and then they are dashed and I’m heart broken. And then one Aussie friend always says to me: it’s only a game (with a big smile), which is just like a red rag to a bull. Four years is a long time to wait!

Tell you what… I think I more happy that the Ozzies got nothing than I’m happy that WI won!! OK… ek sal nou my bek hou!! 😉 )

As dit kom by wêreldbekertyd gaan ek in isolasie!

Skandaalig!! 😉
