Christmas Truce!

Let’s all wish for peace. Let’s all pray for peace, however unlikely that dream can be. It’s Christmas, the day to celebrate hope and tranquillity. Today’s photo reminded me of a unique event during the First World War. Apparently, in places along the Western Front, troops from both sides downed weapons. They met… to sing carols… to share gifts and to celebrate life. Yes, if mankind really wants, we can relive the day… endlessly.

Christmas reflections - 2016 at the Irish War Memorial - pray for peace!

The photo? The reminder of that 1914 event? My walk through the Irish War Memorial in Dublin, days after the 2016 centenary commemorations of the start of the Battle of the Somme. Apparently each of the different rose cultivars carries a significance. I’m struck by the red petals floating on the water…

Happy Christmas… may your day be filled with love and understanding… not to mention a bit of fun and friendship as well!! God Bless!!!
