The Price We Pay for Our Art!

Yes… I know that’s a bold statement but on Monday I had reason to be reminded that at times we must sacrifice for our art. Yesterday I shared that I remained in the car while my good lady took a stroll down to the river. Well, there was a very good reason why I didn’t dare venture out. Not long before I took yesterday’s photo we’d stopped at another vantage point. I looked upriver… the view begged for a snap…

Looking uphill. The Wicklow Gap shows off her chalms!

However, the downhill view seemed more enticing. The only problem… I needed to cross the uneven ground if I was to get the sun falling just so on that lone pine tree. Yes, you guessed…

A look down the Wicklow Gap... yes, that lonely pine acted like a magnet... attracting me across the uneven rocks... jut for this happy snap!

I endured a little mishap. But, I got my photo! The photo is so of the moment that you can even make out the effects of splashes on the lens. The charming little rainbow in the centre, below the very pine in question, could only be there because I took a slip!

That, my friends, is the reason why I couldn’t get out of the car. It’s still winter in the northern hemisphere… the sunny, bright photos belie the 5 deg C outside temperature. Then, factor in a stiff northerly breeze and it becomes apparent why the cold, wet clothes had to come off! Mmmm… not all the clothes… I did retain a little dignity, even if the ego was a tad bruised! The price we have to pay…

At least it was only a bruised ego and not a limb! Nice photo!

Brrrr that would be a cold tumble at this time of the year … I’m glad your ooh la la is intact even if the ego took a knock!

Wow! No worries, the bruises (if any) will disappear, but you will have this memory for a long time – a worthy sacrifice. Jy moet kyk waar jy loop, nie loop waar jy kyk nie!

Here’s hoping just the ego was bruised. 😊
I’ve fallen in many a stupid place in search of a picture… But you most definitely got your shot. 😊

I value your 'likes' and comments, even though I don't always reciprocate, I care. Thanks for making the effort! God Bless!!
