Friday’s Fancy Flights of Feathered Fun…

I took these two pics a few week’s ago… while waiting to collect the grand-kids at school. This Red Kite was flapping about just above the school parking area. Now… Red Kites have their own story here in Ireland. Reintroduced here in Ireland in 2007, they are doing quite well here in Co Wicklow, where we live. The first photo is for effect only… I was trying to get it between the lines… with the vapour trail also added… for more effect.

A few brave individuals have taken to town flying and I quite often see one over Arklow, where I snapped this individual. Many of the birds are tagged and can easily be identified… if you happen to have sufficient magnification with you! Me… one day when I grow up I’ll have sufficient magnification… promise!

Red kites are lovely birds. It will be a while before we have them in the west though.
