Friday Flappers – Three’s Company!

Our great summer produced quite a lot of butterfly activity… well, maybe quite a lot is a bit of an understatement. August has been particularly busy. Each time we’re out we seem to catch some action… like these Common Blues hard at their fertility rituals. Yep… the focus is not perfect… but I’m sure you’d also make it as difficult as possible if some happy-snapper came sticking a lens in your face while you’re getting into the nitty-gritty!

Great photo. Saw a painted lady today, my first of the summer, battling a cool and blustery wind. I am seeing good numbers of peacocks but not huge number of anything else.
