Seaside Saturday – The Pole…

There’s a pole… out in the middle of nowhere… just sticking its long slenderness up unto the Wexford sky. Why? Rumour has it that it’s an observation post… scaled by the observer who then sits atop the pole to have a look-out… for what? I believe it was linked to the long defunct lifeboat station… maybe the observer used to look out for boats in trouble. You may ask how I know all this? Rumour, as I said… and, there are actually toe-hold notches fitted to the pole… maybe, I rest my case… maybe?
