Tuesday Tunes – Memories of Military Days

OK… I think I’ve taken the veteran theme to its conclusion. I chose today because music is the basis of something that is brewing – something very positive!

Firstly – many of you will know I don’t do movies or TV. Well… I do cricket on TV. So… I can’t really talk about war movies – unless we go way back to the seventies. I loved watching movies… but that changed sometime in the early eighties… I just couldn’t be bothered with movies anymore. I’d still watch the odd bit of TV but that soured too. Let’s just say being in conflict situations may have had an effect. But… there were movies back then that made their impression… so much so that during one of my earlier operational tours I became “Oddball” – yep, I even did the “Don’t give me no negative vibes” thing! So… guess what? Here’s a movie theme that is forever seared into my brain!

Here’s a note from Wiki-P: The Mike Curb Congregation’s recording of “Burning Bridges” reached #34 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart on March 6, 1971; but did much better in South Africa, where it was the #1 song on the charts for five weeks ending in November 1970.

So… music/ movies/ military/ veterans… and wait for it… internet radio! Yes… internet radio! Here’s the news! Have a look-see at this link!

Sandbag Times Radio

Internet radio. Again, those who know me know I’ve long held the desire to someday give my own show a go! Guess what, if all goes to plan, I could get a show! Yep… as a total novice, I’ll be able to play music I love… and serve a real communication purpose. I’ll be able to speak with like-minded folk who want to to be part of the station’s shows. Anyone can register (free) sign in and chat. Or – you can just listen, the lads play classy music! There is also loads of interesting reading material to enjoy.

Currently, there are two live shows, Jim is on between 10h00 and 12h00 Monday to Friday and then Pablo between 12h00 and 14h00 – Irish time. There are NO adverts… the DJ’s chat is relevant and interaction is welcomed! So… it is into this positive, lively environment that I have been welcomed! For me, this is one of the coolest events in my life! A new dawn on a long held dream! Yes – it’s true… I kid you not!

Kool Kat! Dis nou so reg in jou kraal.
