Today we’ll return to the Dinsdag Dinge posts – introducing fellow South African bloggers. However, in the previous posts I introduced the ladies… so, today I’ll change all that and tell you a little more about Dries de Wet… he of de Wets Wild! I can tell you all about the de Wet’s blog winning SA Blog of the year in the travel or environmental category’s or about the times they were runners-up… but hey, that would be unnecessary horn blowing.
All you need to do is visit… and get lost in the South African wilderness… from the desert to the subtropical… from the high mountain peaks to the mangrove swamps along the northern coasts… or from the semi-arid Kalahari veld to the riverine forests along the Cape’s south coast.
I can tell you all sorts of stuff but really, I’d be wasting your time… you simply need to go there… and immerse yourself in the beauty they have captured! The blog is very much a family affair… their young son has his photos featured these days… and he is fast filling his father and uncle’s wildlife photography shoes. No, he’ll have to grow up a little more before he can attempt to fill their boots but I promise… he’s doing just great with the shoe filling!
Of course… I can also fill you in on another lil secret… Dries has become a bit of a butterfly chaser… just to give me an extra thrill every so often when he features butterfly posts! So, just to prove that I can occasionally join his league… I’ll post a butterfly today… taken just days ago… as it seems the warmth here has begun the summer hatching.
A comma… on nettles, in our backyard! SWEET!
