So… it’s taken me all of six days to get to the writing theme. Yes… I had to bite my lip until today but hey, it was worth it. Writing… being a writer who wants to become an author. Today I am proud to say, I’m in the process of transitioning from the former to the latter. Why? How?
Easy.
As you well know… to get from one to the other one needs to be published. No… not help yourself vanity stuff. The real deal. A publishing deal coupled with a contract from a reputable house.
Can you believe my joy when I opened the inbox a few weeks ago. There was an invite from an indie publisher who is willing to offer me a contract, subject to a re-edit of a short story compilation I submitted months ago. Then, even better… a hard copy contract arrived from another publisher who wanted to do a deal on a novel I submitted to them even more months ago. Imagine my joy. TWO contracts within days of each other! To celebrate, I went off into Dublin Town to get a photo taken with James Joyce… yes, James Joyce!
OK… that is the statue of James Joyce… no, it’s not me. I’m not that pretty and I don’t usually pose with statues either, so… if you were wondering… about 97.539% of the rest of this content is FICTION!
Oh no… But today’s fiction could be tomorrow’s reality! Best of luck!!!

Mmmm. !

Dankie vir die posetiewe voorspelling! Ja… dit kan gebeur, ek hoop!
(I’ve actually got a contract as I think you may have noticed. Only thing, they’re asking for a contribution up front so I’ve been advised to tread carefully! I’m not working at the moment so it’s difficult to justify paying over £2K to get my stories published! )

Eish (that’s African for ouch, by the way), that is a lot of money in any currency. To cover their initial expenses I presume?

Eish… yes, I love that word.

I’m not long home from working and having some unwinding time and a cuppa tea (which will wake me up in the night to pee, but can’t resist!) Too much info? Sorry there 😀
