Friendship

How do we show cyber friendship? I wonder? This week Ailsa’s travel challenge asks us to show our ideas of friendship. I left the question of showing cyber friendship as a comment and that got me wondering.  Old friendships relied of face to face meetings. Long chats. short chats. Occasionally we reverted to land line calls.

Meetings around camp fires… meetings around braai fires. Social interaction. Dare I say it… meetings after church. Occasionally physical interaction… just occasionally!

Now however, we have many more cyber friends to chat with. Some we interact with daily… others less frequently. None-the-less… we feel we know those folk, even just a little. Friendships develop. I have to confess… there is many a day I wonder what friend X has posted. Now… just before you start shouting… friend X is all of you! The list will be rather long so for now you’ll all just be smiley friend X!

That brings me back to the question… how do I show that friendship? Well… these two swallows come from somewhere down south. They may have come from the same nest or from different countries in Southern Africa. They arrived here in Ireland together. I snapped them down in Co Wicklow. Who knows where they have nested or where they spend their days? That sort of signifies cyber friendships. Sort of, I say. We know snippets about each other and as long as we bring joy or a smile we must surely be friends!
